Viola Davis’ win last night at the Emmy Awards was one for the ages! She became the first African American woman to win Best Actress in a Drama category. As a woman of color I was simply ecstatic and very proud.
There are so many lessons we can learn from others in their journey. The first few words that come to mind for me is: strength, perseverance, grace, and focus. Of course we don’t see the blood, sweat, and tears that she put into her craft as an actress. However, we all know that they exist.
They exist for her and they exist for all of us. Only we know the backstory as to how and why we do what we do. Perhaps it’s not Emmy Award winning.. but it’s still important to us. Don’t let the absence of a thing or a situation be the reason why you choose not to live out your dream!
Keep striving to be the best version of yourself as you can be.
Whether you are able to hold a trophy in your hand or just know you are living your life inan authentic way… a win is still a win!
Keep at it and continue to live in your purpose!
